Yet it looks like the Crosby sweepstakes is going to be tossed out to 2006. Prepare for teams to tank this season to win the next Gretzky. Going to be a tough one to swallow for fans this year.

Leafs are dumping some big names...

heard from a bird...Crosby wants to become a Leaf we will make it so
3 of our top players said they will take 1/2 pay or less to stay with the leafs ...like Mogilny and Neiwy

Crosby will be ours!!!

but some loop also in the system will go into play for the players that the owners kind of used against them a few years back
and thats they have to honor their 2004-2005 contracts so shit hit the wall again

Anyone read Roenick's comments?

"If people are going to sit and chastise pro athletes for being cocky, they need to look at one thing and that's the deal we're going to be signing in about three weeks,'' Roenick said. "Pro athletes are not cocky. Pro athletes care about the game. Everybody out there who calls us spoiled because we play a game, they can kiss my a--.

"I will say personally, to everybody who calls us spoiled, you guys are just jealous. We're trying to get this thing back on the ice and make it better for the fans. If you don't realize that, then don't come. We don't want you in the rink, we don't want you in the stadium, we don't want you to watch hockey.''

"I have to see how my body reacts to some really, really, really hard training regimen here coming up in the latter part of the summer," Roenick told Sporting News Radio. "It's very hard to get motivated without a deal. Once that announcement comes, I think the motivational factor will definitely be lifted. "

So basically he says that he cares about the game, and wants to make it better for the fans. Then he says if you don't agree with his point of view, don't come pay his salary. Then, to cap it off, he says that without a deal he isn't even that motivated to get in shape to give the fans (that do believe in and love the NHL) their money's worth.

Fuck all of them. I have nhl94, I don't need that crap.

Can't wait, just think if hockey had the salary cap that football has this might not have been an issue.

Mark my words Baseball will eventually strike again because they want even more money because the Yankees are making this much for that position, or every other team will get pissed that the Yankee's are always in the championship because they buy their way into it.

Basketball is still fine but it will get out of hand with comments made like "come on I got to be able to feed the kids and 20 million a year just doesn't cut it." Boo hoo...

I would do a Fantasy Football league with the guild. I'm in an Keeper Auction league already, and that's a lot funner, but I'd do a normal Yahoo league with the guild. Live draft, and must be held last weekend possible to avoid someone getting screwed by an injured player in the preseason.

I am a huge Roenick fan from his days with the Blackhawks...however, for him to come out and toss those comments around, is wrong. If they are trying to get this show back on the ice - the commish needs to send a message to his dumb ass and fine him.

The only people who care about hockey right now and will have seen that story are people who know how much of an ass Roenick is anyway. They're not going to care what that jackass has to say. Hockey has shitloads more things to worry about than Jeremy Roenick.

Go Devils.

When asked about which team he would play for if he was ruled a free-agent upon the NHL's return, Crosby picked his favourite childhood team.

"That's a tough one, my dream was to always play with Montreal," Crosby said. "That's the first thing that comes to mind. It depends on the situation, but I think that would be my dream come true - to play for Montreal."
