Yeah, they cut out so much stuff from the book it was nuts. The book is my favorite in the series so was dissapointed by some of the stuff that they cut out. It seemed to me the cut out alot of the mystery that usually takes place in each book and turned it more into a action flick. Still thought it was pretty good though.

Just got home from seeing it. I haven't read any of the books so I can't compare details.

Both my wife and I thought the end fight scene was too short though and of course there were some unanswered questions that the next one will more than likely answer.

When is the next one scheduled anyway? They working on it already?

Think it will be the last one for these kids because they arent kids anymore.

The Goblet of Fire is my favorite, followed by The Order of the Phoenix (next movie). It seemed to me like the director took out a lot of the whimsisal stuff along w/ the actual magic stuff. It showed nothing of harry learning new things (IT'S A FREAKING SCHOOL!!) and they made the triwizard tournament seem like a 4 yr. old could do it given the right amount of luck, but as was said in the movie, people have died during the trials in the past b/c of incompetence.

The fight scene at the end wasn't so much meant to be a fight scene. It was meant to show a major event had taken place, and that harry was very much able to defend himself against it, even if he didn't know how or why. Sorry for being so vague, tryin' not to give a spoiler here...

They BETTER redo it, director's cut or something. I realize a lot of was cut for time, but c'mon, they added some crappy stuff too.

Wasn't a bad movie, but I liked the previous movies better as this was lacking something. Perhaps it was the lack of magical moments like was mentioned earlier, or maybe it was all of the holes that I could see in the movie without ever reading the books.

One big problem I think is the passage of time in this movie is messed up. That was supposed to be an entire year of school. It seemed more like a 2 week time frame if that.

Don't know how to fix that without making a 4 hour movie out of it though. They had wanted to make this book into 2 movies but didn't and this is what we have.

The book really needed two movies dedicated to it. They did as well as could be done while keeping the movie to a decent length (2.5 hours). As a movie it was fantastic, very action oriented and fast paced. Little character development though.

I liked it though because it gave a visual to the most exciting parts of the book.

Well that was kinda the point. Harry isn't ready yet, and there's more to come (point of the series really).

Actually, the SVCD rip telecine thing was kind of dark. It doesn't work that well for them to do that when its a film that is overly dark to begin with, like this potter film.

I ended up going to see it sunday night, which was pretty cool. My propaganda meeting at the home depot got over at about 9:40, with harry potter starting at 10:05 PM Sunday night. SO I went to that showing.

This rocked! Opening weekend and at that time on sunday night I had the entire front of the theater to myself, so no people talking or crap. Maybe six other people were towards the back of the theater.

This film kind of sucks ass, though. I don't get it, evidently these are supposed to be characters you hate? They were all dicks. Even harry and ron are dicks in this one, while Vaginey Gingnivitas or whatever the hell her name is was a whiney cunt(though she is developing along rather well, having several "nipped out" scenes.)

Then something happens to someone, that I guess is supposed to make you feel something. However, I had no idea who the hell this person was since they were so basically vanilla and I could not remember them from the other films at all.

Then there was this thing with this hideous "big woman" that was fairly disturbing. I've never read the books, but on this movie it seemed that they must of left out about half the book which explained what the hell was going on.

Plus, as the actors get older or something, I could not understand what the hell Ron and harry were saying about 1/3 of the time. They kind of said slang in this horrible ass brit accent. Even though I've been familiar with Monty Python, Benny Hill, Red Dwarf, the Goodies, etc and heavy accents for 30 some years, I had no idea what the hell Ron was saying fast sometimes. I was thinking that there should be subtitles.

Kind of felt flat to me, like the same old stuff. It was like someone who had seen the other Harry Potter films, tried to make a poor imitation of them.

The book was 730-some pages. They cut out most of the "character development" out of necessity. It was originally supposed to be 2 movies for this one book but the condensed it to one (should have been 2). It was still a good movie but if you didn't read the book you are probably at a distinct disadvantage.

Who the hell is "Vaginey Gingnivitas"? The girl? Hermione Grainger?

Those aren't fake british accents, they are real british accents. You couldn't figure out what a "git" is? The book was written by an English woman, set in England. Did you expect Korean slang?

like the director said, "It's a 700 plus page book, I have 150, I'll do what I can."

and whoever said book 5 was good.... :slap: it was angst-o-rama

Now book six was so dark you needed a flashlight. Book seven better be all I'm expecting and he better not bite it in the end :squint: , H/G still has to happen :o

You mean how can he have 10 level 60s on both horde and alliance, regular and pvp and still have time. Its called time management and a good paying job.

No I mean I couldn't UNDERSTAND them sometimes, like AT ALL. I know what a Git is, but I don't know what this is when Ron turns to harry and says:

"Moof umm looov ump shum!"

then harry says

"Foufuf. ooff.f guoiueg"

It wasn't that I didn't KNOW what the words meant, it was they way they said them sometimes.
