Have you been inactive for more than 30days?
if you have just ask for a re-invite weirdo.

I dunno.
Here is what's going on. I was hoping this wouldn't come up but I don't wanna be deguilded forever because I plan on coming back to WoW.
Right now in my life I have alot of stuff going on. No, my dad isn't in the hospital or anything, but in general I have way to much happening to play and really make it worthwhile.
I'm 21 years old, in my last semester at college, still taking 18 hours of courses.
I run the Division 1 intercollegiate 400m and other races for my track team. I scored and medalled at conference last year, and this year I have a great shot at regionals in two events.
My capstone project for my major is actually two seperate projects. One involves administering a climate survey to an independent newspaper, and my boss for that is the newspaper's Editor-in-Chief. There have been 16 revisions to that survey and hours of meetings. The second project is massive. I am working with the Center for Nonprofit Excellence to determine the effects of natural disasters and tragedies on regional nonprofits. This involves learning an entirely new world, then polling around 300 area nonprofits for their financial data; this is the easiest part. After obtaining the massive amounts of data we need, roughly 10 years of financial data per nonprofit, we have to analyze it against events like 9/11, the tsunami, and Katrina. Our final product is a complete understanding and report on the effects of disasters on both the donors and the nonprofits; we are expected to be able to classify effects by donor ethnic group, nonprofit genre, etc... If I don't complete these projects then I don't graduate with my major. Needless to say, this takes alot of my time.
My jobs for the squadron are Safety Officer and Security Officer. Think of stuff involving those words and that's what I do around the dorms. Fire hazards, people getting hurt, checking authorization badges, etc., all fall under my job description.
Add to that a girlfriend or a couple dates a week, and the desire to have a healthy social life, and you can see that I have alot to do. Posting and reading the forums is essentially the only way I can stay connected with what's happening in guild or with the people in it.
I realized this. I gave my account and CD key to Binary to jack around with until I had enough off my plate to play again. I thought he might use it for certain runs where you needed a couple more people or didn't have enough for Onyxia one night. I'm not sure how it's been used, but I don't control it right now.
If I'm deguilded, that's okay with me, since I don't even play right now, but it is important people know where I am coming from. I'm not a 36 year old IT guy with kids. I have a life and important things that can't be pushed back going on right now. I'm sorry if it doesn't resonate with everyone, but real life always comes before Warcraft.
Not trying to sell you out, Jimbo.

I don't think you're deguilded unless you got swept out on the 30 day cleanup. I just put you down to registered user since you don't seem to be playing any more but are still messing around on the forums.

haha i was cool with everything you were saying till that. I give about 20 hours to WoW a week and that just about kills me as it is. The thing about time management Mael is that if you want to make time for this game or any game you will find room, if there's no room it's just not that critical that you play.
it's an outlet, nothing more, so if you are getting your stress released in other places, good on you.
As you get older you'll find that the schedule you have now is probably as easy as it's ever going to get, in terms of being able to pop in some Madden or fire up WoW. Trust me, if you're swamped now, forget about it.

Agreed. Every person has their own outlet for stress and to relax. Yes real life always should come before a game. But saying things like the 36 year old IT guy comment did not need to be said IMO. Whatever you have going on is all that was needed to be said (since you felt you had to justify your time away).

Or you end up at the place I'm in now. Young(ish) professional who is just starting to kick back and relax. Move out to the country, get home from work everyday, throw the ball with the dogs, kiss the fiance on the cheek, have dinner and settle into WoW while she and the dogs watch TV.
The late 20's are the deal. Lots of free time before stage 2 of life ramps up. Once the kids come around, it'll probably be 100 times harder to make time than when I was 21 running around with senior projects, hollering at the ladies, hanging out with the fellas, etc.
The Grog is right though. Life is what happens when you're not in WoW. And life is what matters. Take care of that first and enjoy it. Azeroth will always be there.

Not a 36 year old IT guy with kids? YOU NUMBSKULL!!! :slap:
Do you think a married person in their 30s, who also has children is somehow likely to have MORE free time than a senior in college whose biggest concerns are athletics, school projects, and charity work?
Holy crap... :uh:
Don't worry about a damn game. Do whatever makes you happy.
We have all kinds of people in the guild with various professions. We got wanna-be chemistry professors and lawyers, engineers, police officers, military, students, and yes some middle aged IT professionals. We all have a common hobby and that is what brings us together. The important part is having fun and gettign some time to get away from all the normal RL stuff.

I think you guys are focusing on the wrong thing. I didn't mean that in a bad way. I meant it like some people can play from work, etc. IT guy is respectable and a good position that is difficult to achieve. I understand the demands that 36 year olds have as well. My point in saying that was to let you guys know that there were things going on that, like I said, couldn't be pushed back, and other things that I don't WANT to be pushed back.
I could play for a couple hours every couple days, but it wouldn't be worthwhile for the guild or for me, which is why I gave acct over to Binary.
I feel like this post didn't help me at all, especially the IT guy thing. Instead of "I understand why you aren't playing" I feel like most people think I'm making poor excuses on why I don't raid and why I haven't been playing. That's fine. I didn't expect it, but now I understand where you guys are coming from too. Good luck with FIGHT.

No need to get worked up man, we just misunderstood you (ok maybe you could've chosen better words), that's all.
Go do your thing... whatever makes you happy. If you decide to start playing again, you know where to find us.
